wandering back to the office from lunch today, i was stopped by an officer on first street. ‘get back,’ he said. ‘we have a suspicious package.’ he pointed it out. across the street, a long tube of sealed cardboard stuffed into a tree planter. it was then that i noticed swarms of police & firemen & the strange stillness of a noon hour w/out traffic. surreal. anyway....
