MY THANKSGIVING 2008
i am thankful for the looming white windowlight on the highest floors of the neighboring building, which i mistake for a full moon each time i pass through my kitchen.
i am thankful for every train that has surprised me by appearing on time in the rare instance of rain, & never on the sunniest days - knowing my patience is thin & my shoes are restless.
i am thankful for the rest of the world on a slow boil, keeping itself company until the morning i visit, unannounced & looking for a home.
i’m thankful for friends & family who do not require much of me, accept it all, & remain linked across time & the abundance of absence that is the future.
i’m thankful for the love of a girl who is blissfully unaware of her own beauty & whose life is a pen writing the word kindness over & over on a blank tablet.
