There isn’t much cooler than walking into the bookstore across the street from your office, picking a certain new & well-stocked item off the shelf & seeing yourself pull-quoted on the same page as Woody Allen. The only thing better is knowing that a kind & talented friend on the other side of the country had her dreambook published by Perigee last month! Also, the book is about inspiration… yet another reason I’m honored to be involved in whatever small way.ps. You may remember Ms. Pierre’s work from this issue of my magazine.post ps. Using large architecture as a pinpoint to measure movement too vast for human hearts.

ANIMALS OF THE SKIES
All those arrogant birds mocked us for thousands of years from the clean expanse beyond our heads. Eventually we learned how to fly too, & they ridiculed our clumsy machines as impure. But we pushed on, threading higher & higher until, one day, we perched on the very moon… & any birds who may have followed were eaten up by the purity of space.

of bliss…& the nondescript slobber of numbness.
